Pacific Alliance

The Pacific Alliance is a regional integration mechanism made up of Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Peru, through which it seeks to progress gradually towards the free movement of goods, services, capital and people.

This is part of a strategy to become a projection platform to the world, with a focus on the Asia-Pacific region.

In the last edition, Colombia handed over the presidency pro tempore to Mexico for the period 2022.

Peru will assume the presidency pro tempore in January 2023.

Associated state

During his virtual attendance, Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong thanked the invitation to participate in the current summit and said he was honored that his country had become the first associated state and had signed a free trade agreement with the bloc. .

According to the Prime Minister, this FTA will serve to institutionalize and strengthen the economic alliance between the countries, as well as boost trade between these nations and strengthen ties.

The Pacific Alliance was created in 2011 as an economic and development initiative between four Latin American countries: Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Peru.
