“New perspectives” on the road to European integration are a “great opportunity” for Georgia and the South Caucasus region, Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili said Monday at a joint press briefing with her Armenian counterpart. Vahagn Khachaturian.

His Armenian counterpart stressed the “great importance” of developing relations between the two states, based on “a historical and cultural heritage and identical values”. Khachaturian said the ties have been strengthened by “constant work” and provided a “more solid foundation” for the future.

The visiting official also said the intensity of the high-level meetings “testifies” to the fulfillment of bilateral commitments aimed at further expanding cooperation between the countries.
Khachaturian is also due to hold meetings with the Georgian Prime Minister and the Speaker of Parliament.
In the symbolic part of the visit, he will lay a wreath at the Memorial to the Fallen Heroes in the Conflicts for the Sovereignty and Territorial Integrity of Georgia in Tbilisi.
