KUNA: Kuwait faces rapid development in consumer protection – official – Economy

CAIRO, June 15 (KUNA) — Kuwait is keeping pace with rapid developments related to consumer protection, a Kuwaiti official said on Wednesday.
Faisal Al-Ansari, head of the Technical Authority Department for Supervising Commodities at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, made the statement to KUNA on the sidelines of a meeting on consumer protection in Arab countries.
Kuwait has laws and legislations used in the matter during the Covid-19 pandemic to deal with rising prices, he added.
Kuwait and the GCC states are coordinating with Arab countries to establish regulations regarding e-commerce protecting Kuwaiti, Gulf and Arab consumers, he explained.
There is consensus among Arabs to launch a consumer protection platform and database, he said.
A consumer protection directive has been approved, within the framework of the Greater Arab Free Zone, he said.
Meanwhile, Bahjat Abu el-Nasr, head of the economic integration department at the Arab League, said a team of experts and specialists were discussing, for two days, the implementation of a plan of action for the next period.
The meeting also focuses on a technical cooperation project in the field of consumer protection among Arab countries, he said. (end) mfm.aff.hm
